Wicked

Recently I have become obsessed with the soundtrack from one of my favorite musicals. Wicked  is based on the popular novel, Wicked, and the movie, The Wizard of Oz. My favorite character in the musical is Glenda, because she a pretty blonde like me. My favorite song from the soundtrack is defying gravity. I like the song because it has a message of perseverance and defying the negative thoughts that people have about you. I didn't get to see the show while it was in New York, but I did get to enjoy it in Memphis and in Chicago. I love Wicked!!

Miss University of Southern Mississippi

This year I had the privileged of turning over my crown as Miss University of Southern Mississippi to a beautiful young woman named Grace Claire Cordes. As the former title holder it was very bittersweet to hand down my crown. My experience as Miss University of Southern Mississippi has helped me shape the lives of many young women across the state of Mississippi as well as help me promote my platform for diabetes awareness. My father suffers from diabetes and so do many other Mississippians. I am passionate about my family and my state and the more people I can educate the better.

Aside from the emotional and education experiences from Miss University of Southern Mississippi I also enjoyed the production. The choreography was fun and youthful. I also enjoyed getting to showcase my talent one more time. This was one of the most memorable experiences of my life and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

C-USA Championship

2 weeks ago, I witnessed my college win the Conference USA Championship. This was one of the most thrilling experiences of my Senior year. I was surrounded by friends and having a great time watching the Golden Eagles kill the Houston Cougars. Since this was is my last semester of college I found it very rewarding to watch my team win and get sent to a bowl game. Although the bowl game we are being sent to is in Hawaii, I'm still excited to get to watch my team play one more time.

60th Annual Chi Omega Songfest

This year Chi Omega Fraternity celebrated their 60th annual Songfest celebration. This is a philanthropy that benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Epsilon Delta chapter at University of Southern Mississippi raised $35,000.00 this year. During Songfest, various Greek organizations put perform Christmas songs or popular songs and turn them into Christmas like renditions. This year my sorority Kappa Delta place 1st in the competition. I was also please to listen to the gentlemen of Kappa Sigma because they had outstanding soloists. I find it very exciting to see college students making an effort to improve the lives of those who can't help themselves. I've always been taught that its okay to give a hand up and not a hand out.
